Responsibilities
- Perform Routine Maintenance: Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, parks, and public facilities to ensure they meet safety and aesthetic standards.
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate and maintain heavy machinery such as street sweepers, dump trucks, jackhammers, and tractors.
- Street and Drainage Repair: Assist in the repair of potholes, pavement markings, and clearing clogged storm drains during rain events.
- Tree and Vegetation Management: Remove fallen debris, trim vegetation near power lines, and maintain public landscaping.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic preventative maintenance and cleaning on assigned vehicles and tools.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations, traffic control procedures, and city policies.
- Community Interaction: Interact courteously with the public and other City departments to coordinate maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in general labor, construction, landscaping, or public works is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training provided.
- License: Valid California Class C Driver’s License required. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, stand or walk for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of tools and equipment operation; ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Background: Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and background check.
