As a Public Works Maintenance Worker, you will be the backbone of our city's operations. You will perform essential tasks to ensure our streets, parks, and public facilities remain safe, clean, and fully functional.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of municipal vehicles, heavy machinery, and road equipment.
- Inspect and maintain public infrastructure, including traffic signals, signage, and park facilities.
- Operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, and street sweepers in compliance with safety protocols.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during winter months to ensure public safety.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls and weather-related incidents.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and city policies while on the job site.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred but not always required for entry-level positions.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in general maintenance, construction, landscaping, or related fields.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to pass a standard background check and pre-employment drug screen.
