Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized equipment safely and efficiently
- Conduct inspections of public facilities and report maintenance needs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety protocols
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale improvement projects
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests during off-hours as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years in public works or related field
- Valid California Class C driver's license (Class A/B preferred)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification
- Experience operating heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, graders)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and construction materials
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and outdoor environments
