Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on streets, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, graders, and trenchers safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency infrastructure repairs during inclement weather or special events
- Conduct regular inspections of public works assets and document maintenance activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and City protocols
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- Valid California Class C Driver's License (Class A/B preferred)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions
- Knowledge of asphalt repair techniques and traffic control procedures
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
