Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of street signs, traffic signals, and pavement markings to ensure public safety.
- Operate heavy machinery, including backhoes, dump trucks, and loaders, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inspect public infrastructure, including roads, drainage systems, and sidewalks, identifying damage or hazards.
- Clear debris, sediment, and obstructions from drainage ditches and culverts to prevent flooding.
- Assist in snow removal and ice control operations during adverse weather conditions.
- Collaborate with other county departments and contractors on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Class C California Driverβs License with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Experience in public works, construction, or landscaping is highly preferred.
