Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (backhoes, graders, dump trucks) for public infrastructure projects
- Perform daily inspections and repairs on city roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Execute stormwater management tasks including channel clearing and debris removal
- Conduct routine maintenance on municipal facilities and equipment
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA regulations
- Document work activities and maintain accurate maintenance logs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams during emergency response operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid California Class C driver's license with clean driving record
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to operate various power tools and machinery safely
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer literacy for reporting systems
