Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance on city streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy machinery including graders, asphalt cutters, and trenchers
- Conduct safety inspections of public infrastructure and report hazards
- Respond to emergency repairs during storms or public safety events
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment maintenance records
- Train junior staff on proper equipment operation and safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Valid California Class C driver's license; Class A/B license a plus
- Certification in equipment operation (e.g., forklift, dump truck)
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Knowledge of California MUTCD standards for traffic control
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
