Responsibilities
- Operate Heavy Machinery: Safely operate and maintain heavy equipment such as graders, rollers, loaders, and sweepers to ensure road quality and cleanliness.
- Winter Operations: Perform snow and ice removal on streets, sidewalks, and public facilities to maintain public safety during winter months.
- Parks and Facilities Maintenance: Maintain parks, trails, and public spaces by repairing fences, clearing debris, and performing general landscape maintenance.
- Mechanical Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance checks on municipal vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Emergency Response: Respond to and repair emergency infrastructure issues such as potholes, street lights, and drainage problems.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to OSHA safety regulations and City policies to ensure a safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or municipal public works is highly preferred.
- Driver’s License: Valid Washington State Driver’s License (Class A or B) is strongly preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Technical Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to operate power tools and heavy machinery.
- Residency: Current City of Seattle resident preferred.
