Position Overview:
As a Public Works Maintenance Worker, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of the City. You will be responsible for the upkeep of streets, sidewalks, parks, and drainage systems. This role requires physical stamina, technical skill, and a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on city streets, alleys, and sidewalks.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, including dump trucks, rollers, and graders.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during winter months.
- Inspect and maintain traffic signs, guardrails, and drainage structures.
- Respond to emergency repair requests and citizen complaints promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with other municipal departments on infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, or general labor is a plus.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
