Job Description
Join the City of Omaha's Public Works Department as a Project Manager and contribute to transforming our community's infrastructure. This pivotal role oversees municipal infrastructure projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with city budgets, timelines, and regulatory standards. You'll collaborate with engineering teams, contractors, and community stakeholders to deliver high-impact public works initiatives that enhance Omaha's livability and resilience.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end execution of public infrastructure projects (roads, utilities, parks)
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation plans
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and municipal procurement policies
- Conduct stakeholder communications and public engagement sessions
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as needed
- Prepare comprehensive project documentation and reports for city council review
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of project management experience in government/municipal setting
- Professional Engineer (PE) or PMP certification strongly preferred
- Proven expertise with municipal infrastructure project lifecycles
- Advanced knowledge of NE state regulations and procurement protocols
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera)
- Valid Nebraska driver's license
