Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair municipal infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy equipment (e.g., dump trucks, graders) for construction projects
- Respond to emergency service requests during weather events
- Conduct routine inspections of public facilities and utilities
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety protocols
- Document work activities and maintain accurate equipment logs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree in civil engineering technology preferred
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in public works or construction
- Certification in equipment operation (e.g., CDL, flagging)
- Knowledge of municipal infrastructure standards and regulations
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including emergencies and weekends
