Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment for road maintenance and construction projects
- Perform routine inspections and repairs of municipal infrastructure including sidewalks, drainage systems, and traffic signals
- Execute park maintenance tasks including landscaping, irrigation system upkeep, and facility repairs
- Document work activities using digital reporting systems and maintain accurate field notes
- Adhere to all OSHA safety protocols and city environmental standards during operations
- Respond to emergency weather events for snow removal, debris cleanup, and utility repairs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of equipment operation experience
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain within 30 days
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification preferred
- Proficiency with hand/power tools and basic diagnostic equipment
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and safety compliance
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean driving record
