Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery for street repairs and sanitation
- Perform routine inspections of public infrastructure (roads, bridges, drainage systems)
- Respond to emergency weather-related incidents (snow removal, flooding response)
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Document work activities and maintain equipment maintenance logs
- Train junior staff on proper equipment handling and safety procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred)
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or construction
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of GIS mapping and digital reporting tools
- Pass background check and drug screening
- DC residency required within 90 days of hire
