Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment for road repairs and construction projects
- Perform routine inspections of public infrastructure including bridges, roads, and drainage systems
- Coordinate with engineering teams to implement municipal improvement plans
- Document work activities and submit detailed reports to department heads
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Respond to emergency service calls during severe weather events
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance schedules
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; associate's degree in civil engineering technology preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrakes endorsement
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Proficiency in GIS mapping software and municipal asset management systems
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong communication skills for interacting with community members and contractors
