Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city facilities, parks, and transportation infrastructure
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized equipment for public works projects
- Conduct safety inspections and implement hazard mitigation protocols
- Assist in stormwater management and environmental compliance activities
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Respond to emergency situations including weather-related incidents
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Engage with community members to address public works concerns
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational certification preferred
- Valid Arizona Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety certification within 90 days
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in extreme weather
- Experience with heavy equipment operation (e.g., dump trucks, graders)
- Basic knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Pass background check and drug screening
