Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city roads, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, graders, dump trucks) for infrastructure projects
- Conduct safety inspections of municipal properties and equipment
- Respond to emergency service calls during severe weather events
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment maintenance records
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
- 2+ years of experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's License (Class B)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Strong knowledge of Louisiana DOTD regulations and safety standards
- Physical ability to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
