Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate heavy equipment including dump trucks, excavators, and pavement maintenance tools
- Conduct infrastructure inspections and prepare detailed maintenance reports
- Respond to emergency situations including storm damage and utility disruptions
- Implement erosion control measures and environmental protection protocols
- Collaborate with engineering teams on capital improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and municipal regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in civil engineering technology preferred
- Valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works, construction, or related field
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification required
- Proficiency with GIS mapping and maintenance management software
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Virginia residency required within 90 days of hire
