Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance of municipal roads, drainage systems, and traffic control infrastructure
- Operate specialized equipment including dump trucks, graders, and asphalt pavers
- Respond to emergency storm and flooding incidents within 24-hour deployment windows
- Implement erosion control measures and coastal protection projects
- Coordinate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate digital records of all maintenance activities using GIS systems
- Train and mentor junior technicians on safety protocols and equipment operation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience in municipal infrastructure maintenance or construction
- Valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with hazmat endorsement
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification
- Proficiency with GIS mapping software and field data collection tools
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and lift 50+ lbs regularly
- Virginia residency required within 6 months of hire
