Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy equipment including trucks, graders, and snow removal machinery
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA standards
- Respond to emergency weather events and disaster recovery operations
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Maintain accurate records of work activities and equipment usage
- Participate in community outreach initiatives related to public works
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or construction
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic proficiency with GPS and mapping technologies
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work
