Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery (e.g., graders, backhoes) for municipal infrastructure projects
- Perform routine inspections and repairs of city roads, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and OSHA standards during all field operations
- Document work activities using digital reporting systems and maintain accurate equipment logs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on emergency response and disaster recovery initiatives
- Participate in seasonal public works projects including snow removal, flood control, and vegetation management
- Train junior staff on equipment operation and municipal maintenance best practices
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience
- Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Ability to operate excavators, loaders, and dump trucks in tight urban environments
- Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems and maintenance standards
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic proficiency with GIS mapping and work order management software
- Spanish bilingual proficiency preferred for community engagement
