Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance and construction projects
- Perform daily inspections of public infrastructure (roads, bridges, drainage systems)
- Respond to emergency repairs during weather events or accidents
- Coordinate with city departments on infrastructure improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety regulations
- Train and mentor junior technicians on proper equipment operation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operation experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of GIS mapping and maintenance software
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
