Role Overview:
In this critical role, you will assist in the maintenance, repair, and operation of public infrastructure. Your work ensures the safety and functionality of our streets, parks, and facilities for residents and visitors alike.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, and street sweepers, ensuring all machinery is in safe working condition.
- Perform routine inspections of city streets, sidewalks, and infrastructure to identify hazards, potholes, and maintenance needs.
- Assist in emergency response situations, including snow removal, flood control, and debris cleanup during inclement weather.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and supplies using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual handling techniques.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance schedules.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Tanker endorsement is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in public works, construction, or a related trade is strongly preferred.
- Ability to pass a post-offer medical examination, including drug screening.
- Physical stamina to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in varying weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
