Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery, including dump trucks, street sweepers, and backhoes, to perform essential maintenance tasks.
- Collect and dispose of solid waste and recyclables according to strict municipal guidelines and safety protocols.
- Inspect and maintain storm drains, catch basins, and street surfaces to prevent flooding and ensure road safety.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during severe winter weather events.
- Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and equipment, performing routine safety checks.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations while on the job site.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and the public regarding work zones and traffic control.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Georgia Class C Driverβs License with a clean driving record required.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous labor, including lifting heavy objects, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Experience with heavy equipment operation is a plus but not required; on-the-job training provided.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, rain, and snow.
- Strong commitment to public service, community safety, and attention to detail.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
