Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty sanitation vehicles, including rear-loading trucks and compactors, to collect waste, trash, and recyclables.
- Perform manual labor, including lifting heavy debris, loading trucks, and sorting materials.
- Clear snow and ice from streets and sidewalks during winter storms to ensure public safety.
- Inspect equipment and perform routine maintenance checks on sanitation trucks and machinery.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in all weather conditions.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, traffic laws, and Department of Sanitation regulations.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).
- Valid New York State Driver's License (Class B with air brake endorsement is preferred).
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
- Must pass a physical examination and drug screening.
