Responsibilities
- Collect residential and commercial waste across assigned NYC neighborhoods
- Operate sanitation trucks and specialized collection equipment safely
- Perform preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles and tools
- Enforce recycling and waste disposal regulations with residents
- Respond to emergency snow removal and weather-related emergencies
- Maintain accurate route logs and service documentation
- Collaborate with supervisors to optimize collection routes
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid New York State driver's license (Class B CDL preferred)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly in all weather conditions
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions (per NYC Civil Service requirements)
- Basic computer literacy for route reporting systems
