Responsibilities

  • Collect and transport residential and commercial refuse, recyclables, and yard waste using sanitation trucks.
  • Operate heavy sanitation vehicles, including refuse trucks and front loaders, following all safety protocols.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical safety and compliance.
  • Clear snow and ice from streets, sidewalks, and alleys during inclement weather events.
  • Interact professionally and respectfully with the public regarding collection schedules and service inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the vehicle and at the depot.
  • Report any safety hazards, illegal dumping, or street maintenance issues to supervisors immediately.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver’s License required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.
  • Physically able to lift heavy objects (up to 50+ lbs) and perform manual labor in all weather conditions.
  • Strong commitment to public service and community well-being.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor when interacting with the public.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
