Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty garbage trucks and recycling compaction equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform daily route assignments to collect residential and commercial waste and recyclables.
- Ensure all collection vehicles are maintained, cleaned, and inspected prior to and after shifts.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety protocols to ensure the safety of the crew and the public.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and supervisors regarding route issues or delays.
- Perform light maintenance and minor repairs on collection vehicles as directed.
- Represent the City of Denver professionally while interacting with the public.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License (Class A or B with Tanker endorsement is a plus but not strictly required for entry-level).
- Ability to pass a physical examination and drug screen.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform heavy physical labor.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of safety regulations.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
