Responsibilities
- Operate Street Sweeping Equipment: Safely and efficiently operate heavy-duty street sweepers and vacuum trucks to remove debris from roadways, sidewalks, and alleys.
- Waste Collection: Collect litter and refuse from designated routes and loading areas to maintain high sanitation standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any necessary repairs.
- Route Adherence: Follow assigned routes and schedules accurately to ensure all areas are serviced within the designated timeframe.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and departmental policies while working in active traffic zones.
- Community Interaction: Interact courteously with residents and business owners while performing duties in public areas.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Driver's License: Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is highly preferred; a valid Class C driver's license with a clean driving record may be considered with on-the-job training.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
- Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, construction, or municipal work is a plus but not mandatory.
- Background Check: Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Communication: Basic ability to read and understand safety signage and verbal instructions.
