Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty municipal vehicles, including garbage trucks, dump trucks, and backhoes, to collect waste and debris efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance on public streets, including pothole repair, sign installation, and drainage clearing.
- Inspect and maintain public parks, greenways, and landscaping areas to ensure safety and aesthetic appeal.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and traffic control laws while operating equipment in high-traffic areas.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure all collection routes are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Respond to emergency service calls regarding street flooding or debris accumulation during severe weather.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; technical certification is a plus.
- Valid Maryland Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to perform physical labor including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and working in all weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and experience operating heavy machinery is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to public service standards.
- Pass a background check and drug screening.
