Responsibilities
- Oversee maintenance and certification of all municipal records including birth/death certificates, marriage licenses, and historical documents
- Manage city council meeting documentation, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and ordinance tracking
- Administer oaths of office, voter registrations, and public records requests in compliance with Massachusetts General Laws
- Lead the city's records management program including digitization projects and retention schedules
- Coordinate with state agencies for compliance with municipal reporting requirements
- Supplement staff in the clerk's office and serve as liaison to other city departments
- Develop public outreach programs to enhance civic engagement and transparency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in municipal government or records management
- Certification as Massachusetts Municipal Clerk (CMMC) preferred
- Expertise in Massachusetts public records laws and open meeting regulations
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems and municipal software
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders
