The District of Columbia Government seeks an experienced City Clerk to join our leadership team immediately. This critical role ensures the integrity of municipal records, council proceedings, and public information access. You'll be the guardian of DC's democratic processes, managing official documents while serving as a vital liaison between government and citizens. Responsibilities
- Oversee all official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and council minutes
- Manage publication and distribution of legal notices and public documents
- Administer oaths of office and public notary services
- Coordinate municipal elections and public voting processes
- Ensure compliance with FOIA and open records laws
- Supervise records management team and office operations
- Serve as secretary to the Council and Mayor's office
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Law, or related field
- Minimum 7 years local government experience with 3+ years in records management
- Expert knowledge of DC municipal codes and procedures
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche)
- Active Notary Public commission in DC
- Proven ability to handle sensitive/confidential information
- Experience supervising government records staff
