Responsibilities
- Oversee all city council meetings, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with Robert's Rules of Order
- Manage public records requests, ensuring timely and transparent responses per RCW 42.56
- Administer municipal elections, including ballot design, polling place coordination, and results certification
- Lead legislative research and codification of city ordinances
- Supervise clerk staff and implement records management systems
- Advise city officials on parliamentary procedure and legal compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- 5+ years of municipal government experience with election administration
- Expertise in Washington State public records laws (RCW 42.56) and open meeting laws
- Advanced proficiency in municipal software systems (e.g., Legistar, Tyler Technologies)
- Professional certification from Municipal Clerks Association (CMMC or CMCA)
- Experience managing FOIA requests and complex records retention schedules
- Proven ability to supervise teams and manage high-pressure public-facing processes
