Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all official city council records, ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes with precision and confidentiality
- Oversee municipal elections processes, including ballot preparation, voter registration coordination, and certification of results
- Administer oaths of office, public records requests, and legal document authentication
- Coordinate with city departments to ensure legislative compliance and documentation accuracy
- Lead public information initiatives, serving as primary liaison for citizen inquiries regarding municipal procedures
- Develop and implement records management systems ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
- Prepare official reports and statistical data for city council meetings and public hearings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of municipal government or public sector experience
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation from International Institute of Municipal Clerks
- Expertise in Tennessee Open Records Act and Sunshine Law compliance
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, SharePoint)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated public speaking experience
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
- Valid Tennessee driver's license and clean driving record
