Job Summary
The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for overseeing municipal infrastructure projects, including roadways, drainage systems, and water utilities. You will lead technical teams, review blueprints, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and construction of public infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, and drainage systems.
- Review and approve construction plans and specifications submitted by contractors and private consultants.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure projects adhere to approved designs, safety standards, and timeline requirements.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with city departments, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues and facilitate project approvals.
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and presentations for city management and the public.
- Ensure all engineering work complies with local ordinances, state statutes, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or the ability to obtain licensure within 12 months.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in municipal or civil engineering project management.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Revit.
- Strong knowledge of local and state construction codes, traffic engineering principles, and hydraulic design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
