Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive land use plans aligned with Bexar County's strategic vision
- Review and approve development permits ensuring compliance with zoning ordinances and environmental regulations
- Lead public hearings and community outreach initiatives to gather stakeholder input on major projects
- Analyze demographic and economic data to forecast growth trends and infrastructure needs
- Collaborate with engineering, environmental, and legal teams to resolve complex planning challenges
- Prepare detailed reports, zoning maps, and policy recommendations for County Commissioners Court
- Manage long-range planning initiatives including transportation corridors and green space preservation
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive planning experience in municipal or county government
- Valid Texas AICP certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Expertise in GIS software (ArcGIS Pro) and spatial data analysis
- Deep knowledge of Texas local government codes and NEPA compliance
- Proven track record in managing complex development review processes
- Exceptional public speaking and conflict resolution skills
- Portfolio demonstrating successful planning projects in urban/suburban environments
