Responsibilities
- Develop and implement evidence-based environmental policies aligned with California's Climate Action Plan
- Analyze complex environmental data to assess policy impacts on coastal ecosystems and urban communities
- Collaborate with state agencies, local governments, and tribal nations on environmental justice initiatives
- Prepare comprehensive policy briefs and testimony for legislative hearings and regulatory proceedings
- Manage grant programs supporting environmental sustainability projects in San Diego County
- Lead stakeholder engagement sessions with industry, environmental NGOs, and community groups
- Monitor emerging environmental technologies and recommend policy adaptations
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of policy analysis experience in government or environmental sector
- Expertise in California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and regulatory frameworks
- Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis software (R, Python, or SAS)
- Proven ability to facilitate multi-stakeholder consensus-building processes
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Experience with GIS mapping and spatial environmental data analysis
