Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive GIS maps and spatial databases to support DDOT's transportation initiatives and infrastructure projects.
- Perform complex spatial analyses and geoprocessing tasks to identify trends, optimize routes, and inform policy decisions.
- Integrate data from various sources including CAD, GPS, and field surveys into centralized GIS platforms.
- Create high-quality visualizations, reports, and dashboards for executive stakeholders and the general public.
- Conduct quality assurance on geospatial data to ensure compliance with federal and district standards.
- Train junior staff and collaborate with engineering teams to translate technical data into actionable insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping software.
- Expert proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and related spatial database technologies.
- Strong programming skills in Python or SQL for data manipulation and automation.
- Experience with spatial data standards (e.g., WMS, WFS, GeoJSON) and web mapping services.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
