Responsibilities
- Research and identify federal, state, and private funding opportunities aligned with Madison Community Foundation's strategic priorities
- Develop persuasive grant proposals, budgets, and reports for diverse funding sources
- Cultivate relationships with program officers and foundation representatives
- Collaborate with program staff to gather compelling impact data and success stories
- Manage grant application pipeline and ensure timely submission of all materials
- Maintain accurate records of funding activities and compliance requirements
- Train junior staff on grant writing best practices and compliance standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of professional grant writing experience with proven track record of securing $500K+ annually
- Demonstrated success with federal, state, and foundation grant applications
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex program data and financials
- Experience with grant management software (e.g., GrantStation, Salesforce NPSP)
- Deep knowledge of Madison-area nonprofit landscape and community needs
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
