Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analysis of existing IT systems and recommend architectural improvements to enhance efficiency and security.
- Lead the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirement gathering to deployment and maintenance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, developers, and city stakeholders, to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal and state data privacy regulations and government security protocols.
- Develop comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, system diagrams, and user manuals.
- Troubleshoot complex system failures and provide technical guidance to junior staff members.
- Identify opportunities for automation to streamline government processes and reduce operational costs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT systems analysis, preferably within the public sector or government contracting.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Java, Python, or other relevant programming languages.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies.
- Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and Waterfall project management frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Valid Illinois driver's license and a willingness to travel to various city facilities as needed.
