We are seeking a visionary Senior Information Technology Project Manager to lead critical digital transformation initiatives for the City of Seattle. Responsibilities
- Lead Project Lifecycle: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of complex IT projects, ensuring strict alignment with city strategic goals, budget constraints, and regulatory requirements.
- Stakeholder Management: Facilitate clear communication between technical teams, city department heads, and the public, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and deliverables.
- Agile Leadership: Lead agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, to drive team productivity, code quality, and continuous improvement.
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify potential project risks and develop robust contingency plans to ensure successful delivery on time and within scope.
- Team Collaboration: Manage cross-functional teamsâincluding developers, designers, and subject matter expertsâfostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure all projects adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, including data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and government procurement policies.
- Reporting & Metrics: Utilize tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, and MS Project to track progress, generate reports, and report key performance indicators to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT project management within the public sector or a comparable large-scale enterprise environment.
- Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Methodologies: Strong working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Education: Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Government Experience: Experience with government IT standards, security protocols, and procurement processes is a major plus.
- Tools: Proficiency in project management software and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Smartsheet).
