Job Summary
The Senior Information Technology Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex IT systems. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency and strategic thinking to ensure system reliability, security, and performance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify technical solutions that meet the evolving needs of the county.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) infrastructure to ensure high availability and security.
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Monitor system performance and conduct regular security audits to protect sensitive county data.
- Collaborate with vendors and third-party contractors to manage software licenses and hardware upgrades.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and network diagrams.
- Participate in IT project planning and execution, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Train junior staff and end-users on new technologies and security protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration or network engineering.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid California Driver’s License (may be required for occasional travel).
