Responsibilities
- System Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), ensuring 99.9% uptime and optimal performance.
- Security Management: Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive state data from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Project Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams in the planning, development, and deployment of new IT solutions and system upgrades.
- Technical Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for complex technical issues, providing expert guidance and troubleshooting for staff.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system configurations, network diagrams, and technical procedures.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with external vendors to manage contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field required; equivalent technical certification may be substituted for a degree.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in IT system administration or network engineering within a government or enterprise environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, SQL, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Certifications: Active CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or similar certifications are highly preferred.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical jargon for non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex system failures and implement effective solutions quickly.
