Role Overview
The Senior IT Specialist will be responsible for leading complex technical projects, managing system architecture, and ensuring the security and reliability of our digital ecosystem. You will act as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance to junior staff and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver state-of-the-art solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of major IT infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with district strategic goals.
- Design, implement, and maintain robust network architectures and cloud-based solutions to enhance system performance and scalability.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive government data against breaches.
- Provide high-level technical support and mentorship to junior analysts and system administrators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage vendor relationships and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure optimal service delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Collaborate with agency stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliverable solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT project management, systems administration, or network engineering.
- Proven expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and incident response procedures.
- Certifications such as PMP, CISSP, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced government environment with strict compliance requirements.
