As a Senior IT Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in managing complex IT projects, ensuring system reliability, and delivering innovative solutions that directly impact Maryland citizens.
Responsibilities
- Lead IT Initiatives: Manage end-to-end software development lifecycles and IT projects from conception through deployment, ensuring on-time delivery.
- System Optimization: Analyze current systems to identify inefficiencies and implement technical improvements to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies and internal departments, translating technical requirements into actionable plans.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure all IT solutions adhere to state and federal cybersecurity regulations, including NIST standards and data privacy laws.
- Vendor Management: Oversee third-party vendors and contractors, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and project timelines.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in IT project management or systems analysis within a government or large enterprise environment.
- Certifications: PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project management certification is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies, SQL, and modern web development frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Location: Must be willing and able to work in Baltimore, MD.
