Responsibilities
- Lead the design, review, and supervision of municipal infrastructure projects, including street resurfacing, drainage systems, and bridge maintenance.
- Ensure strict adherence to DC Municipal Regulations, OSHA standards, and federal environmental guidelines.
- Coordinate with external contractors, architects, and city agencies to manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Conduct on-site inspections and quality control assessments to guarantee engineering standards are met.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, cost estimates, and bid documents for capital improvement projects.
- Provide expert engineering consultation and technical support to internal stakeholders and the public.
- Manage the approval process for right-of-way permits and construction plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license currently active in the District of Columbia.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, civil design, or public works.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bentley MicroStation.
- Strong knowledge of DC construction codes, traffic engineering, and environmental compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder reporting.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities.
