Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain the local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) infrastructure for the county.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot complex connectivity issues, and perform proactive system upgrades and patches.
- Ensure network security compliance by configuring firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support critical county applications and emergency communications systems.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee the maintenance of network hardware and cabling infrastructure.
- Document network architecture, configurations, and operational procedures to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, administration, or a related IT role.
- Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, OSPF, BGP) and routing technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and incident response procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
