Key Responsibilities:
Our ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the district's wide-area network (WAN) and local-area network (LAN). You will oversee network security protocols, troubleshoot complex system issues, and lead technical projects that drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and manage complex network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
- Implement and monitor security measures to protect TxDOT data assets from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
- Perform network audits to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and TxDOT standards.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for network outages and performance degradation, minimizing downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and upgrade legacy systems.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in network engineering, preferably within a state or large-scale enterprise environment.
- Valid Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent advanced certification is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, VPNs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and network security standards.
- Proven experience with network monitoring tools and disaster recovery planning.
- Ability to obtain a Texas Driver's License and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
