In this role, you will be the first line of defense for our critical systems, monitoring for threats, managing firewalls, and ensuring the integrity of government data. You will work closely with federal and state agencies to maintain compliance and protect citizen information.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to security alerts and incidents on a 24/7 night shift basis using SIEM tools.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify potential weaknesses in network architecture.
- Enforce security policies and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, HIPAA) across all state networks.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff and internal government stakeholders regarding security best practices.
- Document security incidents, resolutions, and system configurations for audit trails.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- Certification such as CISSP, Security+, or CEH is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security, cybersecurity operations, or a related IT role.
- Proven experience working in a night shift environment is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and VPN technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment.
