Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain park facilities including playgrounds, athletic courts, and green spaces
- Lead recreational programs for diverse age groups including youth sports, senior activities, and community events
- Conduct routine safety inspections and implement corrective actions
- Manage equipment inventory and coordinate maintenance schedules
- Collaborate with volunteer groups and partner organizations
- Provide exceptional customer service to park visitors
- Assist in emergency response protocols during inclement weather
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in recreation management preferred
- 2+ years of experience in parks maintenance or recreational programming
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Valid New York State Driver's License
- Strong knowledge of NYC parks system and recreational safety standards
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
- Experience supervising volunteers or part-time staff
- Proficiency in basic maintenance tools and equipment operation
