Responsibilities
- Manage Weekend Operations: Oversee the end-of-week processing of pension claims, disbursements, and account updates to ensure timely delivery to retirees.
- Pension Plan Administration: Interpret and apply complex state pension regulations and funding formulas to determine benefits accurately.
- Member Relations: Provide exceptional customer service to retirees and beneficiaries via phone and email during weekend shifts.
- Record Maintenance: Maintain precise, secure electronic and physical records of all pension transactions and member data.
- Compliance & Auditing: Ensure all weekend activities adhere to state financial regulations and internal audit standards.
- Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in weekend processing and propose efficient workflow solutions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, government accounting, or benefits management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel advanced functions).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of state government payroll and retirement systems.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
- Availability: Must be available to work weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) as required by departmental needs.
